Dave Matthews Band Comes to Fresno

Yup, you read correctly. This DMB Fan will be there...will you?

So, I woke up today to the news of the Dave Matthews Band having scheduled tour a date in Fresno, CA. Of all the years I've been going to DMB shows, never once have they come to my home town. I've probably driven thousands of miles to catch shows (keep your jokes to yourself) and now I won't even have to drive 6 miles.

Installing CodeIgniter Above the Root

One of the really beautiful things about CodeIgniter is the ability to run multiple sites on one installation of the CodeIgniter code base. This article outlines the basics of how to install one base of CodeIgniter and run several websites from it.

CodeIgniter - The beauty of Active Record

When building any type of web application, you will inevitably need to create, update, or delete information from a database. There are many great database abstraction layer or DAL available to PHP programmers, and CodeIgniter is no exception. CI comes bundled with its own DAL, Active Record.

Extreme Home Makeover Comes to Fresno

Lets be honest...not one of you out there has watched Extreme Home Makeover without shedding a tear or two. It has been recently announced that the home makeover show is coming to the californian central valley to destroy, then rebuild someone's home.

Click read more below to see the google map of the location.

CodeIgniter Directory Structure

The CodeIgniter directory structure is one topic I often see a lot of people new to CodeIgniter asking about. And for good reason, it can be kind of confusing knowing where things go withing the pre-defined structure. This post should serve as a very basic idea of how things work within the CodeIgniter directory structure.

4 parks, 3 days, sore feet

Well, we made it to Orlando safe and sound. US Airways did have to deplane before leaving Phoenix as the plane was not fit for flight. We've been here two days and made it to all the major theme parks at Disney World, and my feet are sore.

We have one more day here, before we depart for 3 day cruise to the Bahamas. My wife, Christine, and I have a few activities planned that include swimming with Sting Rays and Parasailing.

Disney World Here we come

Well, I'm about 11 hours away from our departing flight from Fresno, CA to Orlando, FL for our 4 night Disney World / 3 night Disney Cruise trip.

Joining me on this trip is my lovely wife, and a majority of her family.

Hello World

Alright, I finally got this thing off the ground. Yes, I realize there are many, many, many out of the box blogs I could install, but for me, the fun is in the programming. PHP to be exact. I love it when a plan comes together and things just work. So I decided to create my own blog.

I've built this blog on a typical LAMP stack, (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) using the CodeIgniter PHP platform. For anyone looking to begin developing websites, (and has a basic understanding of PHP) I highly recommend CodeIgniter. I'll have plenty of posts about CodeIgniter here and will hopefully become a resource for those interested in CI.

Stay tuned for more...
